Summer 2012 - Week 2

June 4- June 10

This week felt very busy. Sunday night, Aiden attended a sleepover at AWANA. I picked him up Monday morning and he was a very tired boy. He got in a nap in the afternoon before baseball practice.

Chase bought a pass for Water World, so he spent the day there on Monday with a friend. Then he went again on Friday with other friends.

Aiden, Zane and Declan had their second week of swim lessons.

Baseball and T-ball practices continued, and the actual games began. So Aiden has practice Monday and Wednesday, with games on Tuesday and Thursday. Zane has practice on Tuesday, and games on Thursday.

Conner worked most the week since he'll be off the next couple weeks for camp.

Scott and I got out for a quick date night -- just dinner this time at Udi's -- but any time alone together is appreciated.

Conner has been driving a Ford Ranger since he got his license. It's been very reliable for him, but it goes through gas very quickly. A big chunk of his paycheck ends up going to pay for gas, so he asked if we'd consider getting a small, gas - efficient car. So last month we put the Ranger up for sale and this Wednesday it sold.

So for the time being, we are driving Conner around again. Thankfully, he'll be at camp next week and that will give us some time to look for a car.

Chase took the Alive at 25 class at the Rec. center this week, so in August he will be able to get his permit. Another driver!! Not sure if I'm ready. :)

Baseball ends

Usually we have 2 or 3 of our kids in summer baseball, but this year it was only Conner. It's his first year at the senior level which meant travelling to nearby cities for some of the games. A couple of them were not so nearby.

They finished the season with only 2 losses and went on to the playoffs which were held this weekend. Saturday his game was at 1:30 in Lyons -- an hour away. They won, which meant they'd played again Sunday. At 8 a.m. Again, an hour away. Ugh. So that meant a very early morning for us all. They also won that game and went on the the final game at 2 p.m.

The team played great and came out victorious! They took 1st place. Way to go Conner and the Angels!!

the other boys of summer

Saturday night me and the oldest 2 boys headed to the Rockies game. We are a big baseball family and try to get to at least a few games a year, but this is our first one this year. The boys especially wanted to go to this one, since they were giving away Troy Tulowitzki bobbleheads. We got there as the gates opened so they each got one.

It was a great game. The Rockies won 7-2 and we got to witness a Grand Slam and 2 home runs. Woohoo!

It was a fun night and I especially enjoyed spending time with my guys!

The Rockies come home

So the first two games of the World Series haven't exactly gone our way. But we play at home for the next 3 games. Here's hoping for a major turnaround!!!!!!!

World Series Mania!

So, sadly enough, we were not able to purchase tickets. Mopsy's blog about sums up my experience. However, her husband did manage to score tickets for Monday's game after all. I'm so happy for them and will live vicariously through their experience if indeed there is a Game 5.

I knew our chances of getting tickets were almost nil. But I made my sons' day by at least trying. For awhile, as we waited for the ticket page to refresh and refresh and refresh, they held out hope of attending their first World Series game. I admit to a tiny thrill of hope, too.

But it was not to be. So we will root for our team from inside where it's warm. And we'll still be wearing our Rockies gear and screaming for our boys in purple.

Chase, Brenna & Aiden have Vacation Bible School all this week. The theme is Splish Splash. They are really enjoying it, especially Aiden. He has learned most of the songs already, with the movements. I bought the CD, so we are listening to it over and over. =)

Baseball is nearly over for this season. In the past, Conner has played on teams that were very good. This year, his team has struggled. I don't know if it's the new coach or not, but they just don't seem to be playing cohesively as a team.

He gets a bit frustrated because he doesn't have much backup when he pitches. But we've been trying to use it as a lesson. In patience, grace, teamwork. He is showing more maturity all the time. I'm so proud of him!!
