We usually have a small birthday party for our kids up to age 5. Then they have a bigger one at age 10. Most likely we will do one for 15 or 16 -- none of our kids are there yet. For the other years, we just do a family dinner at a restaurant of their choice.
Brenna turned 10 on the 2nd, and she really wanted to see the Hannah Montana movie. It came out on the 10th so we planned her party for the 11th. She invited 5 other girls and a couple of their moms came too.
I had a couple qualms before we saw it, but was very pleasantly surprised. This blog has a great review, if you're interested:
The girls all loved it, and afterward we went for ice cream at Coldstone Creamery.
