Our church has embarked on a great project -- they started a community garden. For a very small fee you get a plot and grow whatever you want, and then donate half the harvest.
Our homeschool group thought this would be a good service project, so we headed out there last week. Unfortunately, we'd just had some major rains so it was MUDDY. We didn't end up getting a lot done, but the kids had a blast.

Today we went back out and the ground was much drier. We got all the weeds picked, our compost mixed in and our rows made. Then it started raining so we called it a day. I took some very cute pictures of Chase pulling the little kids in the wagon. Then I got home and went to upload them...and the camera had no memory card in it. Doh!
We head out again Thursday to plant and I will try to get more pictures then.

What a great idea! We've been trying to find a CSA this year, but many of them are full. Next year, I'll start my research in January.
I've done the memory card thing, too. Once we drove all the way to Cherry Creek to see the R2D2 mailboxes. I took a ton of pictures of all the kids in front of it, the mailbox alone, etc. Got home. No memory card. We went back a few weeks later to repeat and the mailbox was GONE. Boo!
I've since put my camera on the "do not shoot without memory card" mode.
Huh, Gretchen -- I didn't know my camera HAD a mode like that. Thanks for the heads-up!!
Great idea! I should mention this to someone at our church! We have plenty of land....
