Field day fun

Yesterday our home school group held a field day. It was a great day for it, sunny and warm. It got hot by noon, but thankfully we were done by then.

They broke the kids up into age groups. Aiden's group got to do things like a 10yard dash, log roll, baseball throw and sit-ups.

The older groups did more running: 50yard dash, 100yard dash, as well as the baseball throw, sit-ups and push-ups.

Zane got to watch, play at the park, and look cute.

He also played with his little buddy.

It was a fun way to spend the morning.

Party time

Yesterday we held Aiden's birthday party at the APEX Center. We did lunch and cake in the party room. He wanted a Hot Wheels theme this year.

These are 3 of Aiden's very best buddies.

Then we headed to the swimming pool area. A couple ladies sat out with me, while the dads and kids swam and played.

After swimming for a few hours, some of the kids tried out the rock wall.

It was a very fun day!

Aiden is FIVE

Aiden is definitely the life of the party around here. He does everything with such gusto. Too much sometimes. =) A recurring comment to him is , "Shhh...a little quiter please." Or "Run outside, not in the house".

He has enough energy for about 10 five-year olds. But he also has an abundance of love -- for his sibling and me and Scott, for our pets, for his friends.

It is our prayer and goal to help his channel that incredible energy and personality, not to break it. It's a challenge sometimes. =)

Happy birthday son! We love you so much!!

COLD camping

Last night Scott and Chase went on a camping trip with the Boy Scout troop. It wouldn't be so bad except yesterday our high in the city was 44 degrees and it was very windy. In the mountains where they camped, it was much colder and it had recently snowed.

So they, especially Scott, didn't pack with much enthusiasm. They made sure to take many extra layers.

I was SO not envying them when they left. In fact, the rest of us nestled on the couch with a cup of hot chocolate as they pulled out of the driveway. Supportive, aren't we? LOL

They ended up having a good time, though. They said it was very cold overnight, but their sleeping bags kept all but their faces warm. And today dawned sunny and fairly warm.

Chase got to do a lot in a relatively quick trip:
fire-starting:

Log-splitting:

Pellet gun shooting:

and archery (he hit the bulls eye!)

Scott took a turn:

Baby update

I had my 15week OB appointment yesterday. They drew lots and lots of blood, which actually doesn't bother me. The nurse had to search a bit for the heartbeat again, but once I told her where we found it last time, she got it. 158 bpm.

Last visit was just the nurse. This time I saw my doctor. She's the same OB/GYN I've had since I was 19 years old. She was only able to deliver 2 of my kids -- Conner and Zane -- because with the rest she was either not on call or on vacation.

She was almost more excited about this baby than we were. (Not really, but she was very excited). Which is so nice, rather than questioning the wisdom of having a 6th child, as some have done.

Anyhoo...baby is doing well, as am I. I have had some energy return this week and not much nausea at all. This is usually my favorite trimester, where I feel the best.

I have an ultrasound scheduled for June 3rd, and we're still deciding whether or not we'll find out the gender.
